Pro Valor Charters, a family-owned and operated business, has continuously provided bareboat and crewed charters out of the James Young Marina here on East End, Tortola, in the British Virgin Islands, since 1993. Our fleet of monohulls (36 to 50 ft.), and catamarans (38 to 45 ft.) is managed and maintained to very high standards to assure you a “sailing vacation of a lifetime."
We also offer an attractive yacht management program with a unique approach to charter ownership. As former boat owners of a charter fleet yacht, we understand and believe that the yacht owner and charter company need to have an honest and open working relationship in order for all parties to benefit. We are the third set of owners of Pro Valor since its inception in 1993. Our fleet continues to grow and good things are happening here at PVC.
We are located on East End just two mlies from the Beef Island (EIS) Airport. We are the first charter company you'll pass as you leave Beef Island -- offering great convenience for our guests.
Charter services and yachts are managed at the Harbourview Marina Complex (HBV) where you'll find our offices and be welcomed as our charter guests. We'll send you out and receive you back from this dock for charter.
We also work out of the James Young Marina (JYM) where we perform maintenance and cleaning of our yachts and offer our long-term slip rentals to call this home. During high and mid season this dock becomes hopping with live aboards who've grown to know each other over the years. In addition, we have ten mooring balls in front of JYM. We juggle our yachts between HBV, JYM and the mooring balls as they are called upon for charter or a slip renter coming down to enjoy the yacht.
All charter yachts are stored in Paraquita Bay for hurricane season -- an insurance-approved anchorage for the off season.
PVC is owned and operated by the husband/wife team of Jim Gulczynski and his wife, Cecilia Donegan, along with the wonderful support of Egbert Clarke (performing all sorts of maintenance tasks), Jana Barry (office) and Effie Davis (cleaning). We proudly share that our charter fleet has grown from eight yachts in December 2005 to 18 at present. We hope our staff continues to grow all in support of our PVC family of yacht owners, be they charter fleet or slip renters, as well as our charter guests.
PVC also services yachts pulling into HBV for diesel. At present fuel is pumped at $4.75/gallon. All other services at HBV should be addressed thru Eddie Wheatley c/o of Chandra at harbourview@surfbvi.com.
We realize we are fortunate to work with some wonderful yacht owners, whom we call friends, and that we also have welcome the best customers in the world for charter ... our business would not continue to flourish without you! Thanks!!!

JIM & CECILIA, OWNERS OF PRO VALOR CHARTERS

FAT HOGS BAY, HOME OF PRO VALOR CHARTERS

BUCK ISLAND
You're close to Pro Valor Charters when you round Buck Island coming into Fat Hogs Bay. We operate out of two docks: Harbourview Marina (charters in/out and office) and James Young (maintenance, cleaning, long-term slip rentals) and have ten mooring balls in front of the JYM Dock.
As you round Buck you'll be about 15-30 minutes to approach eaich of the two docks. For charter guests returning from charter, rounding Buck Island presents a perfect time to phone PVC for instructions on where to pull in and which side to have your fenders on. Provided you call in advance, we'll have someone waiting to greet you as you pull into the dock. An extra set of hands to tie off is always a welcome part of docking.
An initial focal point coming into Fat Hogs Bay is the 3-story yellow apartment building with orange roof (this would be the James Young Dock). As you're closer to shore, you'll notice Harvourview Dock (HBV) is a little to the left (west) and has a faded painted sign on the roof that says RESTAURANT in very large letters as well as a red DIVE flag. If you're heading to the James Young Marina (JYM), head straight for the yellow building. As you get even closer to shore you'll see the JYM dock is actually just a wee bit to the right (east) of the building.
HBV Dock has showers for PVC's charter guests, ice right next door at the Rite Breeze Grocery Store and has two restaurants within the marina (Kong Ming-Asian (upstairs) and Emile's (Mexican - across the street)) as well as a laundromat. Bring your own quarters as they're hard to come by ($1.75/per load -- wash and dry). Laundry detergent can be purchased for $1.50/bag at PVC's offices or right next door at the Rite Breeze.
Rite Breeze Grocery Store is now located within strides of Harbourview Dock. There is a dinghy dock right in front of the store. They are open 7:30 AM to 9:00 PM (M-S) and 7:30 AM to 8 PM (Sunday). Most government holidays they close around 3:00 PM.
If you need dinghy fuel or ice you may take a ride over to Penn's Landing (trimaran at the end of the dock) -- just to the east of JYM and HBV -- at Alphonsos Gas Station. Bags are $4.00/20 pounds and $2.50/10 pounds.
You may also check out Sailors Ketch (sailorsketch.com) at Penn's Landing. You will enjoy some of the best frozen fish you might find in the islands. Open Monday to Saturday. We find the owner Mark a true pleasure to work with and visit him often for our own personal purchases.

~WHAT'S HAPPENING AT PVC~
Pro Valor Charters welcomes 'da Zamboni into its charter fleet ... well not really ... we've purchased a chase call boat to increase our service to you in the event of a problem. It's a 2003 Angler 21' fishing boat with a 150 Yamaha motor. Seeing as Jim was in ice management for many years, we always said that some day when we purchased a chase call boat it would have to be called 'da Zamboni ... and we've got it here now ... in 'da islons at 'da dock!!!
Lettering is being applied now -- soon thereafter a photo will appear!

SOMETHING NEW - SOMETHING FUN - FALL 2010 ONWARD ...
Pro Valor Charters will begin the fall 2010 season with an added little plus for our charter captains (one drawing per charter) ... we'll have a raffle to win free PVC items ... the captain can take their chance to win a t-shirt, hat, cruising guide, virgin anchorages, a BVI laminated map, can coolies, and a few other fun trinkets in PVC's office ... Now that alone is worth booking a charter with PVC -- isn't it?

The Rite Breeze (part of the Rite Way chain) grocery store has opened!!! They moved into the building right next door (east) of our offices. Elatedly we report that they've added a deli counter, fresh meats, as well as some great fruits/vegetables to choose from. We believe this will save many of you a trip to Road Town to shop -- allowing you to get out on the water more quickly! We think we now have the nicest grocery store on the island!!!

All you sports fans, PVC proudly announces its relationship with Carrie Busch Dodd, an AVP player (Association of Volleyball Professionals). Carrie will be wearing a PVC removable tattoo while she's playing on the tour this season (beginning April 2010). Stay tuned, check out their website at avp.com, and watch her on ESPN and NBC. We wish Carrie the best season yet -- and welcome this grand opportunity to support her! ...
With disappointment we report that Carrie started the current season injured and we haven't been able to enjoy watching her this season. We've recently learned that she played in Long Beach (weekend of July 24-25) and won! This is good news and we hope she continues to be healthy!
GOOD LUCK CARRIE!
We'll also share PVC tattoos with all our charter guests!

PVC moved their offices. Not to worry, though, as we're right next door to our former office -- we're still at the Harbour View Marina. It sure feels right as we've got lots more room and have a few more "trinkets" and clothing items for sale ... wait till you see our new digs!!!

All about chartering with PVC ...
Arrival Details: As much as we enjoy meeting and greeting all guests as you arrive for charter (or to enjoy your private yacht), business necessitates that we step away when possible. If you arrive after 5 PM, you will find a note taped on the front office door indicating the lay of the land, where restaurants are located and their hours of operation, the grocery store's location and their open hours, and general details for "getting thru the nite" on your sleep aboard. We will leave a Digicel boat phone for you as well as restroom keys.
Office/Work Hours & Briefings: We start our days at 8 AM and will do your briefing with you just as soon as you're ready. We don't typically come to your boat as we've learned that many guests are really tired from a long day's travel the day b4. Thus, when you're able to sleep in a bit, we're happy to let you do so.
Please come into the office to enjoy a cup of coffee (and we provide Irish cream if you'd like) and we'll be happy to get your paperwork done, issue snorkel gear if you need it, and then we'll get that briefing started too.
You may check out our merchandise and purchase that Pro Valor Charters hat or t-shirt that you just have to have for charter. You'll be looking good!
Provision Details: Guests should schedule provision orders as placed on line ( in advance) with Bobby's or Rite Way for delivery when you are here to receive and proof the order. Unfortunately, we don't have the means to store the refrigerated goods in our refrigerator nor inventory each of the orders as received -- thus, we prefer you handle that.
We've learned in our first few years in business that it works best for YOU to be here for the receipt of the order. Once you're settled with your provisions on board, we'll do the briefing. In the event you're sleeping in, please know that all guests on board must be awake prior to the briefing. We prefer to honor our guets privacy and thus don't jump on board until all are bright eyed.
Snorkel Gear: Our snorkel gear is right in our office so you may pick it out anytime you're ready between 8 AM and 5 PM. Most guests prefer to bring their own snorkel/mask and then borrow the fins (also referred to as flippers) from our office. It seems that fins take up too much room in your suit case and thus it's nice to have another plan in place (and to leave them behind). This also creates more room for the purchase of merchandise while you're down here!
Which Dock Will My Boat Be On: Come to Harbour View Marina ... where we try to be in the office to greet our guests. There are a few instances when guests arrive at PVC's offices only to find a note on the front door which indicates that your yacht is located at The James Young Dock (JYM), just one block east. Please check the note first b4 letting your taxi driver leave. In these instances, it's likely that we have several yachts in/out on the same day and thus have run out of dock space at HBV. In other instnaces, our guests indicate a preference to stay at JYM (which is much more calm and less rocky/rolly than HBV). We don't have restrooms/showers at JY, however, we do proivde our charter guests with a key for the restrooms/showers at HBV. You are more than welcome to walk over to HBV and use the facilities.
Guest(s) Arrival Time: It is important that guests plan their arrival at our office no more than 2 hours b4 delivery of the yacht. If you'd like to come and drop off your bags and then head to lunch or shopping, that works for all involved. There is nothing worse for us then appearing to keep you waiting for the delivery of the yacht you've chartered. Delivery time is 1 PM and 3 PM for sleep aboards. In most cases, the yacht will not even be at the dock until two hours prior to delivery time (as we work out of two docks) and have limited slips at the HBV Marina, which is our charter start/end location.
Move to a Mooring Ball (b4 Dark): Those guests that arrive b4 dark, if you prefer to move to a mooring you may do so. We ask that you schedule this in advance so we can assist you to the ball and also indicate which one to use. Again, we will only do this if you're here and we can move the yacht b4 dark.

Stay tuned - a new outside bar is being built at Harbourview's Dock. Come in, enjoy a drink and swim in the pool (which is also being updated with some new paint). It'll all be ready for the Fall 2009 season we're told. We believe snacks and finger food will be available at the outside bar. If they change their mind on having food, you will be able to walk across the street to Emile's Restaurant. We believe this will attract more people into Fat Hogs Bay -- offering the restaurants in the area an added and much deserved boost! The only thing missing is you!!! ... We're still waiting for them to open???
